Sing like you. Write the songs you need to hear.

I used to be incredibly shy, but I found a way to feel so comfortable on stage that I feel a little like I have “off-stage fright.”
Songwriting has always been a way for me to cope with the world and share my truth.
I never thought of myself as a singer until I studied the voice with a vocalogist. I’ve also had post-secondary education in music composition and songwriting.
I have ADHD along with a whole bunch of other mental health issues, and I approach my coaching from this lens.
I identify as queer and I try to make my coaching sessions a safe space. Voice lessons can be very gendered but I use only gender neutral terms for the voice.
As a member of the disability arts community, it’s really important to me that my services are accessible. My building has a ramp and an elevator. I try to be flexible and accommodating.
Yes, you absolutely can still write songs. A lot of professional songwriters are what we call top line writers. They only write the melody of the song once the chord structure has been put in place. I also have experience teaching piano if that’s something you would like to learn to accompany yourself.
I too have had horrible vocal coaches in the past, but I approach things in a less traditional way. Also, I am always learning and growing so if there’s something that isn’t working for you, I will take that issue to my vocal coach community and speak to experts until we figure something out.
One of the best ways to find your own voice is to sing your own songs. When we only sing other people’s songs it can be easy to try and be just like them, instead of embracing our own sound. Songwriting is also a great coping skill for emotion regulation.
